Housing Development Corporation has initiated a campaign to raise funds for the plight of Rohingya muslims.
Under the name Hulhumalé for Rohingya, this campaign was launched by Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Ahmed Ziyad at the event held at Central Park this evening. Minister was accompanied by Deputy Managing Director of HDC Ahmed Bunyamin, management of HDC and officials from the Ministry.
Addressing the public, Minister Ziyad expressed gratitude to the Maldivians for their generous contributions whenever there is need, and commended for their empathy towards the people in distress and calamity throughout the world. He further called the citizens of Hulhumalé to be actively engaged in this campaign to help the brothers and sisters of Rohingya.
Speaking at the launch, HDC’s Director of Municipal Administration Ahmed Faathih stated the importance of this campaign and highlighted that the funds raised in this campaign will be donated to government’s national relief program to aid Rohingya muslims.
The donation boxes for the campaign will be kept at four locations which are Ferry Terminal, Centro Shopping Mall, HDC Building and Hulhumalé Hospital. Additionally, more boxes will be kept at the parks in Hulhumalé during the weekends from 4pm to 6pm. The campaign will continue until the end of September.
