is Excellency President Mohamed Nasheed has laid the foundation stone for the Housing Project in H. Dh. Kulhudhufushi on 29th July 2010. Under this project 25 Row Houses will be developed in each island for the people who are in need of housing facilities.

Apart from H. Dh. Kulhudhufushi, Housing project in G.A Kolamaafushi and G. Dh. Thinadhoo has been started. These two projects were started on this year’s Independence Day.

Minister of Housing Transport and Environment- Mohamed Aslam laid the foundation stone for 25 Single Storey Houses that will be developed under the Housing Projects in Kolamaafushi.

Mr. Mohamed Nazim, Vice president and MP for G.Dh Atoll placed the foundation stone for 25 Row Houses for G Dh. Thinadhoo.

Province Housing is a project where HDC will develop 25 Row Houses or single storey houses in suitable islands among the selected 6 provinces. The selected 6 islands are H.Dh. Kulhudhufushi, N. Manadhoo, Lh. Naifaru, G.A Kolamaafushi, G. Dh. Thinadhoo and S. Feydhoo.

Each project per island is divided into 5 sub projects. Each sub project involves development of 5 Row houses or single storey houses.

The land allocated to develop 25 Row Houses/ Single storey houses for the project of G.A. Kolamaafushi and G.Dh Thinadhoo were handed over to the contractors on 2nd August 2010. As per the agreement, physical work will be commenced within 21 days upon the singing date which means progression of the project will be in progress before 24th August 2010.

HDC is currently evaluating the bids for Lh. Naifaru and N. Manadhoo and will be announcing the successful bidders for these two projects soon.

A Pre-Construction meeting will be held for the contractors in the coming week, where contractors will be given the final briefing of their respective projects.

According to the success bidders and the documents, the project will be completed within one year from the signing date of the contract.
