Youth Day celebration kicked off in the Youth City on 14th of August with a multitude of festivities.
For the start of the festivities, a Unity Motorcycle Ride and motor show was held during the evening. The ride started from Hulhumalé BBQ Point and then ended near Radisson Hotel at the water front. The motorbike event was joined by a lot of the youth in the city. The event was honored by MMPRC’s Managing Director, Abdulla Ziyath, HDC’s Chairman Mohamed Aseel, Member of Parliament, Ibrahim Sujau, HDC’s Managing Director, Mohamed Saiman, and HDC’s Board Members.
At the end of the Unity Motorcycle Ride, a very special display of water activities was held at the water front near Radisson Hotel. The activities included Flyboard and Jetski shows by Liquid Watersports.
After the evening events, the official event started with the arrival of Chief Guest, Hassan Saaid (IOIG Gold Medal Winner) who opened the Central Park of Hulhumalé. Other invited dignitaries also joined this event. The Hulhumalé Central Park, which is the largest park in Hulhumalé with over 8 hectares has jogging, skating, cycling and areas for stage shows and promotional events.
A very special performance by Fire Dancers, Skate boarders and bicycle stunts were displayed during the opening of the Central Park. The performances was enjoyed by the members of the public in tandem with the special invitees.
The BBQ Area of Hulhumalé was also opened by Hassan Saaid. The new BBQ Area is developed over a stretch of 4000 sqm with a total of 18 BBQ Pits. The development include seating capacity for 132 people with concrete tables. The opening of the BBQ area was complemented with Fireworks and an open BBQ for everyone.
A music show was also held at the BBQ Area which featured various popular artists. A huge crowd joined the celebrations with the special invitees.
