Vice President of Maldives Honourable Abdulla Jihad officially inauguration Masjid Zaid bin Saabith, the mortuary mosque of Hulhumalé prior to Asr prayers today.
At the inauguration function, Managing Director of Housing Development Corporation highlighted the significance of this mosque and mortuary to the citizens and to the overall development of Hulhumalé.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Ahmed Ziyad stated the importance placed by Vice President and the government of Maldives on religious establishments. Dr Ziyad also appreciated the work of HDC in the development of Masjid Zaid bin Saabith.
Following the official innaugration, the delegates observed Asr prayers in the mosque.
Hulhumalé cemetery mosque and mortuary project was initiated in 2015, which consists of the two storey mosque with an ablution area, as well as a single storey mortuary. The mortuary was officially opened this February. While the mosque can accommodate 650 people, the mortuary has a capacity of four people at a time.
