Ghaazee School wins “Youth City Quran Mubaaraaiy

Ghaazee school takes home the winning title of “Youth City Quran Mubaaraaiy”, organized by Housing Development Corporation.

Winners of the competition were awarded during the closing ceremony held tonight at Hulhumalé Rehendhi School.

The ceremony was attended by Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Ahmed Ziyad as chief guest, Deputy Managing Director of Housing Development Corporation Mr. Ahmed Bunyamin, management members and staff of HDC, and participants of the competition with their respective schools and families. During the ceremony, the winning participants and schools were awarded trophies, followed by a speech from tonight’s guest of honor Dr. Ahmed Ziyad.

The 2-day competition commenced at 25th May 2018 and was the first of its kind. The competition targeted schools located in Hulhumalé where total of 3 schools have participated in the competition. 15 students from Rehendhi School, Ghaazee School, and Gateway International School took part in this year’s competition.

The competition was divided into three categories; “Reading from the book”, “Reading by heart category” and “Hafiz category”, where each of these categories are divided into 3 sub-categories. “Reading from the book category” are divided into the sub-categories of “5 chapters as per standards of tajweed”, “10 chapters as per standards of tajweed”, and “15 chapters as per standards of tajweed”, whereas “Reading by heart category” are divided into 2, 4, and 6 “chapters as per standards of tajweed”

A total of 24 awards were awarded to the winners in the following categories;

Reading from the book category:

  • 5 chapters as per standards of tajweed
    • 1st Place: Aishath Aalaa Hassan (Rehendhi School)
    • 2nd Place: Aishath Balmaau Mohamed (Rehendhi School)
    • 3rd Place: Shuau Ismail Shan (Ghaazee School)
  • 10 chapters as per standards of tajweed
    • 1st Place: Aminath Maal Mohamed (Ghaazee School)
    • 2nd Place: Mariyam Hashma Hussain (Rehendhi School)
    • 3rd Place: Aishath Nabaha Ismail (Rehendhi School) and Aminath Shaja Muslim (Rehendhi School)
  • 15 chapters as per standards of tajweed
    • 1st Place: Aishath Raayaa Ali (Ghaazee School) and Aminath Laisa Saleem (Ghaazee School)
    • 2nd Place: Hazin Abdulrahman Ibrahim (Gateway International School)
    • 3rd Place: Mariyam Shaisathaa Saleem (Rehendhi School)

“Youth City Quran Mubaaraaiy” was initiated with the purpose of celebrating the Holy month of Ramadan by providing the students of Hulhumalé community the opportunity to participate in such a competition.
