An event which emphasized on the dangers mosquito breeding can cause among the society was held on last Saturday, the 19th of February 2011. This event was organized by the Centre for Community Health and Disease Control (CCHDC) as the rate of mosquito breeding was found to be relatively high in the Maldives compared to that of that the other Southern Asian countries.
CCHDC was joined and supported by the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF), Housing Development Corporation (HDC) and other orgizations ebtablished in Hulhumalé in holding the awareness creating session at HDC’s exhibition centre, along with the insecticide spraying at various possible mosquito breeding areas found in Hulhumalé.
Since there has been an outbreak of dengue fever in our country, it is our sincere hope that this little event made a positive impact on the society of Hulhumalé and will show good outcomes.
