The foundation laying ceremony has been held for the Blue’s Housing Project. The project, under which 300 apartments are to be developed, will be managed by HDC, while construction work will be undertaken by Noomadi Residence and Resort Anstalt.
The ceremony was attended by the Home Minister Dr. Mohamed Jameel, Commissioner of police Mr. Abdulla Riyaz, as well as other special guests from MPS, HDC and Noomadi.
During the ceremony, the Commissioner of Police stated the importance of such a scheme in order to maintain the welfare of the police force.
“When I first talked about a housing scheme for the police, my colleagues was skeptical about it. They said that many other officials before me talked about such projects to no avail. I took this as a challenge and set out to achieve this dream.” Said Mr. Abdulla Riyaz.
The project, which will be completed within 2 years, is estimated to cost MVR 580 million.
During his speech, the chief guest of the ceremony, Home Minister Dr. Mohamed Jameel appreciated the hard work and dedication shown by the police officers and thanked them for their tireless services.
