HDC launches Green Initiative: Fehi Halleh

Housing Development Corporation launches its Green Initiative: “Fehi Halleh”, today in HDC Head Office.

The ceremony was attended by Minister of State for Environment Dr. Abdulla Naseer as Chief Guest, Deputy Minister Ahmed Ziyaan Abdul Rahmaan, HDC Board Member and Management and staff of Housing Development Corporation.

During the ceremony, HDC’s Director of Planning Mr. Ismail Shan Rasheed, highlighted on the corporation’s aim to eliminate all types of single-use plastics within the organization, with the launch of this initiative. This is one of the initial steps that will be taken towards minimizing the carbon-footprint of this company.

Minister of State of Environment expressed his appreciation towards the company for taking this initiative to launch Fehi Halleh campaign. This was followed by Min. of State for Environment, Deputy Minister for Environment, Board Members, Management and staff of HDC signing the pledge-board to refuse single-use plastic.

As part of this campaign, EPA had recently provided information sessions to the staff of HDC, where methods of eliminating waste were discussed as well as the various consequences that arise due to the wastage of single-use plastics.

HDC has always prioritized greening ideologies when planning and developing Hulhumalé city. Our future plans involve the inclusion of green initiatives such as green transport, green architecture, green energy, and green spaces, to ensure the city maintains its status as a Climate Change Resilient City.
