The Outdoor Gym of Recreational Zone of Central Park was officially opened by Minister of Youth and Sports Iruthisham Adam.

Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Dr Mohamed Muizzu, Minister of Health Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim, Managing Director of HDC Mohamed Saiman, officials of the ministries, and management and staff of HDC attended the opening ceremony yesterday.

A tour of the gym was given to the ministers by Mr Saiman after the official opening. This was followed by addresses by Mr Saiman, Minister Mohamed Muizzu and chief guest of the event Minister Iruthisham Adam.

The outdoor gym setup of central park is the first physical structure in the Recreational Zone that comes from the conceptual plan of the zone.  The outdoor gym has been installed with 18 different exercising equipment which can be used by 32 people at a time. The gym also has an exercising deck, canopy and an outdoor sports flooring, accommodating 100 people in the area at any given time.

Recreational zone will be an active park where recreational activities will be facilitated in order to enjoy and maintain a healthy life. Hence, the opening of this gym will contribute to the vision of a healthy population by facilitating Hulhumalé community to be fit and enjoy healthy living in an open space.
