SBI opens its first Hulhumalé Branch

The Governor of Maldives Monetary Authority Mr. Ahmed Naseer officially opened State Bank of India’s first branch in Hulhumalé, today.

The event commenced after the arrival of VVIP figures such as CEO of SBI Mr. C. Shankarnarayanan, Governor of MMA Mr. Ahmed Naseer, Maldives Resident Representative of UNDP Ms. Shoko Noda, Managing Director of HDC Mr. Mohamed Saiman and other representatives.

Following the official opening ceremony, the Indian Ambassador of SBI His Excellency Shri Akhilesh Mishra, officially opened the SBI ATM Lobby, while the CGM of SBI Mr.  Sujit Kumar Varma, opened SBI’s In-touch Kiosk.

The branch, would be the 4th branch State Bank of India has opened in the Maldives. The SBI Hulhumalé branch had begun their operations since 7th November 2017.

SBI aims to provide convenience to its clients by expanding their digital banking procedures. They hope to do so by introducing a more convenient way to open bank accounts, and by providing personalized photo debit cards.

HDC believes that commercial additions such as opening of this branch is a great contribution to the overall development of Hulhumalé.
