His Excellency President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih officially inaugurated Huravee School, the largest school ever to be built in the country.
President Solih was accompanied by Vice President Faisal Naseem, Minister of Education Dr. Aishath Ali, Principal of Huravee School Mr Abdulla Rasheed, HDC’s Managing Director Mr. Suhail Ahmed, cabinet ministers, state ministers, officials of Ministry of Education and HDC.
The ceremony commenced with the recitation of Holy Quran, after which the President formally opened the school. He then signed the guest book of Huravee School. During the ceremony, President Solih addressed the invitees and the school students. In his speech, he acknowledged and appreciated the contribution made by HDC in developing the school under its CSR component. School Principal Mr Abdulla Rasheed and Minister of Education Dr Aishath Ali addressed the students and attendees as well.
Located at the Neighbourhood I of Hulhumalé Phase I, Huravee School the largest school developed in the country with the ability to accommodate up to 1620 students. The school consists of 52 classrooms in 3 blocks of 7 storey buildings, as well as 2 classrooms specified for students with special needs. The school contains all standard facilities of a school such as laboratories, library, multi-purpose halls, prayer rooms, resource rooms, rooms for extra-curricular activities, kitchen space, canteen, and two lifts. Aside from these facilities, Huravee School introduces new facilities through this school such as open spaces in all floors, universal access ramps allowing wheelchair access and pathway for emergency exits.
This newly opened school is the 4th Primary and Secondary school in Hulhumalé, and the second school to have been developed by HDC following Rehendhi School.
