Housing Development Corporation, in collaboration with Ugail Foundation, presented “The future of policing- Dubai story”, tonight at Centro Mall, Hulhumalé. This story by Dr. Hamad Alawar, Head of Digital Forensic in Dubai Police, was presented to the public with the aim of creating public awareness on Smart Cities.

This event was following the MoU signed between HDC and Professor Ugail yesterday, to collaboratively accelerate the implementation of Smart City objectives to Hulhumalé. Under the agreement, Professor Ugail will be providing consultation services and assistance to our Smart City action plans for the next five years, with a primary focus on development of community skills.

Professor Ugail has provided his guidance in some of HDC’s most recent efforts in establishing Hulhumalé as a Smart City. He has led the Tech Accelerator Program, guiding staff of both HDC as well as Maldives Police Service in development of technologically advanced projects. With the help of this program, HDC and MPS has conjointly developed the ‘Open Data Access’ project, through which HDC created “MyHulhumalé” online portal.

He was also the keynote speaker in the very first episode of HDC’s ‘Mansa’ talk show series – created to tackle the challenges faced by Hulhumalé community with the help of experts in the relative fields. In his episode, Professor Ugail focused his discussion on creating smart people in order to achieve a smart city.

The aspirations of Hulhumalé to become a green, civil and modern city with sustainable developments required the implementation of a smart city action plan. With the valuable guidance of experts such as Professor Hassan Ugail, HDC aims to redefine the quality of living for all citizens of Hulhumalé.
