While you finish your college degree and browse through opportunities and places to work at, you may wonder what the place is like? Is it going to provide me growth and development? What’s the culture and people like? More often you find these out when you actually start working and in time realize you are stuck in a never-ending loop of an unhappy workplace. So, you move on to the next and next job until you are tired, weary and accept the boring job for its security and benefits.
We at HDC, understand that a good organization requires a shift in culture, an environment where employees enjoy working in and grow personally, while excelling in their career pathways. For this sole purpose, our HR consists of an Organizational Development Team – a team working on aligning all aspects of the organization starting from performance management to organizational restructuring to development of functional structure and mandates. This team is led by a leader specialized in Change Management and the team, like their leader is driven by the positive changes envisioned for the corporations’ growth.
Within less than a year of existence, this team has led multiple organization level projects identifying operational inefficiencies and providing solutions for alignment and efficiency of the workflow’s corporation wide. Taking the dual role to balance processes and people, while championing employees, creating long-term human resource strategies and being change advocates has been no easy feat.
This team working to shift the corporate culture to a friendlier and positive one, has planned and managed several events and activities targeted at all levels from the top to junior staff and cross functional staff as well, which have all been great successes and are very much appreciated amongst all staff of the corporation.
“Building an organization’s human resources by leveraging change management can make great things happen. While this may be fairly new in Maldives, it is the future of human resources. Our aim is to build a change receptive workforce at HDC, who can create opportunities in every uncertainty that they face. While we still have a long way to go, I am truly honored to be spearheading this team as we transform HRM department to a HR business partner at HDC.” – Aminath Zahaan Ashraf, Assistant Director.
KUDOs to Team Organizational Development for being a unique and successful team in the Human Resource Field of Maldives where Change Management as the foundation of the Human Resource Management is rare.
