Team Baji Yeah won the final match of HDC Youth Futsal Cup 2017, becoming the champion team of the largest futsal tournament ever to be held in Maldives.

The Chief Guest of the final match and closing ceremony was President of Football Association of Maldives Bassam Adeel Jaleel. He was accompanied by Maldives Olympics Committee President Mohamed Shaweed and Managing Director of Housing Development Corporation Mohamed Saiman.

The final match held at Hulhumalé Futsal Ground last night, was won against the runner-up team FC Soup with the score 2-0. With this win, Baji Yeah also took home the champion team prize money of MVR 80,000/-. FC Soup as runner ups, were awarded MVR 40,000/- and the fair play team award of MVR 20,000/- was won by College Friends Club.

Most Promising Player – Ali Ajfan, Jersey number 1, Team Nookashifura

Top Scorer – Mohamed Nashid, Jersey number 7, FC Dhaaelhun Returns with 13 goals

Best Player of the Tournament – Abdulla Shafiu, Jersey number 7, Baji Yeah

HDC Youth Futsal Cup 2017 presented by Renaatus, is the first tournament of its kind to be arranged in Hulhumale’ by Housing Development Corporation. A total of 108 teams took part in this Cup. Each team consists of 12 players and 5 officials, and hence, a total of 1836 youths were involved in this tournament. The opening took place on the 24th February and lasted for approximately 15 days.

Housing Development Corporation as the entity entrusted with the development of Hulhumalé, gives priority to ensure community development and engagement takes place effectively in order to make Hulhumalé a city with engaged and empowered residents- especially its youth population. As such HDC aims to hold this tournament annually, with the aim to create a friendly environment and a platform for networking, community building and instil values of sportsmanship amongst the participating youth.
